ASSEMBLE A DESKTOP PC COMPUTER
Assembling a desktop PC is a very simple thing to do. The PC or desktop computers are manufactured in such a way that every item is a removable or line replaceable module called LRU in short. The aim is to remove the item you want to change and put a new one there. It is really simple. If you have a cd rom then it will have only one electrical cord to connect and one data cord that used to look like a flat ribbon. the hard disk also had just two connections one of electrical and the other flat ribbon cord for data, but now a days the data ribbon has changed and it looks a bit slimmer and is a less bendable cord for SATA drives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO ASSEMBLE A PC If you want to assemble a pc go and buy the LRU's or the parts like CPU, motherboard, cdrom, floppy drive, zip drive, AGP or graphics card, cd/dvd writer, monitor, UPS, speakers, modems, USB cameras, or anything else you want and the chassis or the cabinet separately. You don't need a hardware engineer to fix up your pc.
FIX CPU ON MOTHERBOARD First open the motherboard packet and fix the cpu on to it with the fan. Normally the CPU comes separate. You will need some heat sink compound to be put between the heat sink and cpu for better transfer of heat. It is a small white compound available at the same shop you bought the pc parts.
DISCHARGE THE STATIC The caution is to sit barefoot and bare hands so that your body is earthed and no static is discharged into any component. Also remember not to touch any item on the motherboard as far as possible to prevent damage to them. Capacitors carry charge and can give you shocks. Capacitors look like small cylinders standing like drums on the motherboard. Stay away from them.
FIX LRU's INSIDE YOUR CPU CABINET Just open the chassis and first fix your motherboard when all the holes align with the chasis holes for the screws to go in and all the connecting points on the motherboard like your monitor out, printer output ports, mic and speaker outlets etc also align with the holes at the back or front of the chassis or cabinet correctly. Once you have screwed in and fixed the motherboard on the chassis inside, you can put the cdrom, the hard disks, floppy drive and other equipment inside where ever they are easily sitting and can be secured with screws. Do not leave these items with out using a screw to connect to the chassis.
CONNECT ELECTRICAL & DATA CABLES Now screw in the chassis fans. The last thing you should be to fix the electrical and the data cables to all the equipment you have installed.
INSERT RAM OR SIMM At last if your RAM or SIMM pieces must be inserted in to the slots on the motherboard. This must be done last to prevent any damage when you were putting in all your other items and were using equipment like screw drivers. If the slots in the motherboard are spoiled then you can't repair them and the motherboard will need to be changed. So be very careful.
INSERT AGP OR GRAPHICS CARD Now you can fix the AGP card or your graphics card into the graphics slots. The graphics card can go into only one slot and it looks different. The convention is that if a cord or a card can be pushed into a slot easily and fits perfectly, then it will work there. If you find a cord can be put in to more than one place then it will work in any of them and does not matter which one you connect it into. Occasionally there may be some colour codings on the cord end and where it is supposed to go into in the motherborad which you must match if possible. It still will not matter if you don't use the colour codes because if you can insert it without damaging any thing then it will work there.
RECHECK CONNECTIONS & CLOSE CABINET Once again check that you have assembled your pc correctly by plugged in all the equipment like cdrom, hard disks, floppy drive to the motherboard with a power cable and a data cable each, all equipments have been fixed to the cabinet firmly using screws and your special items like RAM or SIMM has been inserted correctly to the slot, the AGP card is in place, all the fans have been fixed and connected to power outlets on the motherboard or SMPS. Once again see there are no screws or cards or items belonging to your motherboard is left outside after you have assembled your pc. Now you can close the cabinet and screw it up confidently.
CONNECT CPU TO MONITOR POWER MODEM KEYBOARD & MOUSE Go and place your CPU cabinet you have just now assembled where you want to on the pc table you will be using. Get the monitor out and place it where you want and connect it to the cabinet using the data cord and connect the power cord to the electrical plug point. Place your UPS or uninterrupted power supply nearby and connect the CPU to the UPS. Connect all your speakers, external modems, external hard disk or any other external items you have to the CPU and then finally connect the UPS to the electrical power wall outlet and switch on the UPS and then the PC.
YOUR PC IS ASSEMBLED If you see the CPU lights or led red or green as applicable coming on with the computer monitor light up with the boot up screen coming then be assured that you have succeeded in assembling the pc.
AFTER PC BOOTS UP The first thing you must do after you have assembled your pc and loaded the operating system and the programs is to see there are no spywares or adwares loaded that can slow down your pc and remove spywares or adwares and fix your registry to prevent pc crash or running slow at the first instance.
REGCURE
Regcure can find and fix all the errors in your PC easily. It takes just about 2 minutes to fix all errors.
